The 5th National Prevention, Advocacy, Resources and Data Exchange (PARADE) Conference was held May 14-16, 2009 at the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) in Emmitsburg, MD.
Fire marshals from around the country had an opportunity to introduce themselves to their colleagues.
Former California State Fire Marshal Ronny J. Coleman kicked off the conference with a presentation on the history of residential fire sprinklers.
PARADE regions had an opportunity at regional meetings to discuss fire prevention issues specific to their localities.
The PARADE Grounds offered participants the opportunity to showcase fire prevention, public fire education, and life safety resources.
USFA provided information to participants on the Quick Response Program, a program designed to promote fire safety and prevention messages in the news.
Novelty and toylike lighters were featured in this display at the PARADE Grounds.
Workshops encouraged discussions on a variety of topics and interest areas, such as lessons learned from the Super Sofa Store fire, the National Fire Alarm code, and residential fire sprinklers.
