USFA Announces Website for Wildland Fire Training Information

Emmitsburg, MD - The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), in the Department of Homeland Security Preparedness Directorate, is pleased to announce the availability of a new website with training information for firefighters who may be involved in wildland or wildland-urban interface firefighting. The website is managed by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Training Working Team and is located at http://training.nwcg.gov.

This new website provides information about the NWCG curriculum, training program, training material, standards, and any related areas of the NWCG interagency training program. Acting U.S. Fire Administrator Charlie Dickinson, who also serves on the Wildland Fire Leadership Council, says that "The opportunities being offered on this new website will be of tremendous help to the structural fire community in dealing with wildland fire situations, especially in the urban interface."

As a member of the NWCG, USFA participates in several working teams. On the Training Working Team, USFA plays a key role in presenting structural fire service issues to this group, and presenting wildland fire issues identified by this group to the Nation's structural fire service.
